H1 2026 tested economies and markets against geopolitical tensions, tariff fragmentation, inflation pressures and a weaker global growth outlook.

The key lesson was clear: resilience can help you survive disruption, but it does not necessarily help you get ahead of it.

Globally, economies absorbed repeated shocks but often lost ground on growth and stability. Nigeria, however, provided a different story. Through monetary tightening, FX reforms and reserve accumulation, the economy made meaningful progress, while the NGX delivered a record first-half performance.

But resilience alone was not the opportunity. Investors who recognized changing conditions early, repositioned ahead of repricing or used market corrections strategically were better placed to capture value.

As H2 2026 begins, the question is no longer simply how to withstand uncertainty, but where to position for what comes next.
